Guest Post: Comm Arts leaves its mark on Learning Commons

“Thank you, God, for all the blessings of the past 100 years, and for all the Bold Hearts who are Marywood’s present and future!” — Sr. Anne Munley, IHM, Ph.D., September 3, 2014

Earlier today, Sr. Anne Munley, IHM, Ph.D., president of Marywood, helped the campus to kick off the 2014/2015 academic year at the Opening Liturgy. Following the liturgy, the campus community came together for the annual community picnic, held this year in Tree Stadium just behind the Sette LaVerghetta Center for Performing Arts.

But this year, there was an extra blessing–the blessing of the final steel beam that will complete the frame of the new Learning Commons, set to be dedicated September 8, 2015. Immediately after the blessing, Sr. Anne invited members of the campus community to sign the beam and leave their mark forever on the project.

The Learning Commons will be home to the Communication Arts media facilities. Naturally, Comm Arts students and faculty wanted to leave their mark on the beam that will play a huge part in the future of the department.

Here’s a brief video in case you missed the event.

Or, you can see who signed the beam by checking out the slideshow.
