I had a bit of a struggle with figuring out what kinds of jobs to focus on this week. I think I finally found it though! When most people think of film or journalism, or even advertising they think of big cities. So, today I am focusing my post on jobs in one of the communication capitals of the U.S.: California. Enjoy!

1. Stereo D is looking for a Production Coordinator.

Stereo D is a business that was created by filmmakers. The Production Coordinator is responsible for the assignment and tracking the tasks. They watch the movement between shot teams and do daily reviews.

Job qualifications:
•”Bachelor’s degree in film, art, communications or related field preferred.”
•”2+ years proven production experience in established VFX facility.”
•”Demonstrable experience in highly technical, dynamic departments is a must.”
•”Experience with heavy schedule management in a very time sensitive atmosphere.”
•”Must be diligent, resourceful, meticulous and able to thrive under pressure.”
•”Thorough understanding of CG/VFX production pipelines, software packages and post-production is essential.”
•”Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail coupled with exceptional people skills and the ability to work within a team environment.”

2.Lucasfilm Animation is looking for a Production Assistant.

In this position you will provide overall administrative support to all departments. You’ll assist with episode script breakdowns, schedule and organize meetings for every department, type meeting notes, and much more.

Job qualifications:

  • “2 years of experience in Production minimum, preferably in animation.”
  • “Requires excellent administrative skills, including word processing, strong working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook. Project Management software experience preferred.”
  • “Capable of working independently and as part of a team. High level of initiative, flexibility and confidentiality. “
  • “Strong attention to detail, time management, and follow up/follow through skills required.”
  • “Ability to establish priorities and multi-task efficiently within a high-pressure, fast paced environment while meeting strict deadlines. Ability to work in a start-up environment that has a certain degree of ambiguity.”

3.Paramount Pictures is looking for a Coordinator Post Production.

This position provides support to the Domestic and International Marketing Post-Production team.

You will have to complete administrative tasks such as handling phones, calendars, meeting coordination, organizing travel arrangements and processing expenses and invoices, keep all film, video, digital, audio sources from production,order and track forensic watermarking of source elements, and much more!

Job qualifications:

  • “At least 2 years experience with Post-Production”
  • “Knowledge of trailer production in all areas, including but not limited to conform, DI, mixing, sound editorial, visual effects and graphics”
  • “Knowledge of feature production editorial workflow”
  • “Understanding of commercial advertising media delivery and trafficking”
  • “Proficiency in all digital file types, such as DCPs, Avid codecs, ProRes, Animation, H.264, PhotoJpeg, AIFF, WAV, etc.”
  • “Knowledge of studio and MPAA security protocols”
  • “Proficiency in Mac”

4. The Label Creative is looking for a Documentary and Marketing Editor.

They are looking for two editors to join their team. The pay starts anywhere between $10 and $20 an hour depending on your skills. It’s a part time job, and you must be proficient with editing software!

Job requirements:

  • “Experience with documentary style videos”
  • “Proficient with Premiere CS5 or higher or Final Cut 7 or higher”
  • “No need for After Effects experience”
  • “Must have your own editing station”

5. The Gazette Newspaper is looking for a Staff Writer

They are looking for an old school journalist who is ethical and has new school knowledge!

Job description and responsibilities are:

  • “Write up to six solid news and feature stories a week for three community weeklies. Coverage could include, but is not limited to:
