Mackenzie

Name: Mackenzie MacNeal ’18

Concentration: Advertising/Public Relations

I chose Marywood because of the small student population. It creates a community that allows me to be involved in many different activities and hold leadership positions so I can have an active voice on campus to promote change.

I am majoring in Comm Arts because it is a major that is relevant to a multitude of fields, which is good because I have no idea what field I want to go into.

When I’m not in class, I’m a member of PRSSA and AAF, a tutor, the Campus Ministry Representative for Student Government Association, a writer and contributing editor for The Odyssey, and an event assistant at Campus Ministry.

My favorite class is either Media Buying and Planning or Political Writing and Rhetoric. The Media Buying and Planning class allowed me to be creative while still entertaining the logistical side of advertising. I am minoring in Political Science and love to write, so the Political Writing class is the best of both worlds.

The coolest thing I’ve done so far was work in the TV studio at Marywood. It seems like a whole new world in the TV studio, so I guess that means the green screens are working.

When I graduate, I want to work somewhere that allows me to write in a creative and innovative atmosphere.

I’d recommend the Comm Arts program at Marywood because it provides a number of different opportunities to students seeking to pursue a career in communications. Students are able to try things outside of their concentration, but all pertaining to communications. There is always something new to try and a new experience waits around every corner.
