Margaret

Name: Margaret Scott ‘18

Concentration: Advertising/Public Relations

I chose Marywood because of the small student population and recommendations from family and friends. It’s so easy to become involved and make a difference.

I am majoring in Comm Arts because the field is so versatile. There is so much you can do with a Communications Arts degree that you’re not committed to one job for the rest of your career.

When I’m not in class, I’m a member of PRSSA and AAF, SCJ, a DJ for 91.7 VMFM, and assistant Arts and Entertainment editor for The Wood Word.

My favorite class is Media Planning and Buying. I really enjoy learning about the statistics and facts that go along with advertising; however the class still is entertaining and is helping me think more creatively. I also enjoy Public Relations Writing because you learn how to properly apply knowledge on writing for PR in events happening around campus.

The coolest thing I’ve done so far is work as a DJ for the campus radio station. A year ago, being a DJ was definitely something out of my comfort zone, but now it’s something I look forward to every week!

When I graduate, I want to be able to find a job that can help me build on a meaningful career, whatever that may be.

I’d recommend the Comm Arts program at Marywood because it has a number of resources and different opportunities for any Comm Arts major to take advantage of. There are so many activities to be involved with that you’re definitely going to find something you really enjoy doing.
